We are very happy to announce that after thirteen months we have completed the metadata queries and the metadata enrichment of our corpus in the holdings in the <\/span>Austrian National Library<\/span><\/a> (\u00d6NB)! You can now search the library-system for our corpus and access our manually-checked metadata of resources.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The criteria for including a work in our corpus are the following: 1) the work has a relation to the Ottoman Empire; 2) it is a travelogue or includes a travelogue. In total, the corpus includes 2.535 records of resources, 752 of them are written in <\/span>German<\/span><\/a>, 1252 in <\/span>French<\/span><\/a>, 392 in <\/span>English<\/span><\/a>, and 126 in <\/span>Latin<\/span><\/a> (last update: September 2023).<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How to access to our corpus <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

You can access the corpus by searching for our markers in the catalog of the Austrian National Library: <\/span>projectonit*<\/span><\/b><\/a> is the basic marker for the entire corpus. If you prefer to explore a sub-corpus in a specific language, add the right letter corresponding to each language (d=<\/span>Deutsch<\/span><\/i>\/German; e= English; f=French; l=Latin), like this:<\/span> projectonit<\/span>l*<\/span><\/b><\/a>. If you are interested in records of Latin resources in the 16<\/span>th<\/span> Century, add the number of the century (16; 17; 18; 19) to the marker, for example: <\/span>projectonitl<\/span>16<\/span><\/b><\/a>. It is also possible to target the records of one century by changing the \u201clanguage-letter\u201d with the wildcard (*), like this: <\/span>projectonit<\/span>*<\/span><\/b>16<\/span><\/a>. If you wish to see the records of journals or collected works add behind the marker a space and write <\/span>Zusammenstellung<\/span><\/i> (collection; collected works) or <\/span>Zeitschrift<\/span><\/i> (journal), for example: <\/span>projectonitl16 <\/span>zusammenstellung<\/span><\/b><\/a>. You can still add the wildcard (*) to change your query, for example <\/span>projectonit<\/span>*<\/span><\/b>18 <\/span>zeitschrift<\/span><\/b><\/a> or <\/span>projectonit<\/span>* zeitschrift<\/span><\/b><\/a>. Important: do not forget to set a space between the ONiT-marker (basic marker and\/or language letter and\/or century) and the keywords <\/span>Zusammenstellung <\/span><\/i>or <\/span>Zeitschrift.<\/span><\/i> Last but not least: the marker in the catalog of the \u00d6NB is case-insensitive; it means, it does not make difference if you write the marker in uppercase or in lowercase letters. We updated and enriched bibliographic records in <\/span>MARC21 Standard<\/span><\/a> following the rules of <\/span>FRBR<\/span><\/a>, of <\/span>RDA<\/span><\/a> and of the <\/span>Austrian Library Network (OBVSG)<\/span><\/a> to guarantee the quality of the data according to the FAIR-principles: Findable, Interoperable and Reusable. In October 2023, we will present our first results at the \u201c<\/span>I. International Evliya Celebi Symposium<\/span><\/a>\u201d<\/span><\/b> in Istanbul and plan on publishing a more detailed documentation of our metadata enrichment soon.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
